BJP Dominates Haryana Municipal Elections, Wins 9 Out of 10 Seats

The BJP won big in the Haryana city elections, taking nine of ten mayor spots in the state. This big win is another loss for the Congress, which had people running in many important cities.

Election Highlights

BJP’s Sweep: They got the mayor spots in big cities like Gurugram, Faridabad, Hisar, Rohtak, Karnal, Ambala, Sonipat, Yamunanagar, and Panipat. Only in Manesar did an independent, Dr. Inderjit Yadav, win.

  1. Gurugram Victory: There, BJP’s Raj Rani got a lot more votes—a lead of over 1.79 lakh—over her Congress rival, Seema Pahuja.
  2. Congress Performance: Even with a lot of effort, Congress didn’t do well, losing in places they usually win.
  3. Voter Turnout: About 41% of people voted, which is less than before.

Election Process

The voting happened in two parts: March 2 for seven cities (Gurugram, Manesar, Faridabad, Hisar, Rohtak, Karnal, and Yamunanagar), and March 9 for Panipat. There were also extra mayoral elections in Ambala and Sonipat on March 2, and elections for other local leaders in 21 areas.

Campaigning and Response

The BJP had top leaders helping, with door-to-door visits and big events. The Congress brought in big names like Sachin Pilot and Bhupinder Hooda. But, the BJP’s work connected better with the people, leading to their big win.

Conclusion

The BJP keeps being on top in Haryana’s local elections, while the Congress is falling behind. The results show the BJP keeps its strong run going in the state.
